DEPARTMENTS
CASL is organized into six interdisciplinary departments:
Behavioral Sciences includes Anthropology, Behavioral Sciences, Health Policy Studies, MS in Health Psychology, Psychology, and Sociology
Language, Culture and Communication includes Public Communication and Culture, Comparative Literature, Composition and Rhetoric , Global Cultures, Journalism and Screen Studies, Linguistics, and Modern and Classical Languages
Literature, Philosophy & the Arts includes Art History/Applied Art, English, Humanities, Music, and Philosophy
Natural Sciences includes Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemistry (ACS Certified), Chemistry (Instructional), Earth Sciences/Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Science M.S, Environmental Studies, Integrated Science, Microbiology, and Physics
Social Sciences includes Economics, History, Political Science, Social Studies, Urban and Regional Studies, Geography and Institute for Local Government

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AND LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Virtually every CASL program offers students the opportunity to engage in independent study or research under the direction of a faculty member. Opportunities for developing leadership skills or becoming engaged in the community in an academic context are also prevalent. SPECIAL ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
CASL offers or supports a number of special academic programs. Some are aimed at particular groups of students, while others are available to anyone. All of them seek to enhance the student’s experience at UM-Dearborn—whether inside the classroom, outside the classroom, or both.
