Criminal Justice Internship

Criminal Justice Studies internships are designed to provide field experience for Criminal Justice majors.  Actual field experience will provide students with valuable tools to help them achieve their goal and produce humane leaders with the technical skills and social and ethical sensitivity needed to succeed in their chosen field.  The Criminal Justice Studies internship has a seminar component.  The seminar helps students make informed decisions relative to their future career in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice related fields.  Both the internship and seminar provide opportunities for students to personalize their learning experience.  Students are supervised by a faculty advisor.

Requirements

An internship or co-op experience of 3 to 6 credit hours is required for students seeking a criminal justice degree. The internship provides supervised field experience in a variety of criminal justice and law enforcement agencies. All students are required to enroll and participate in the CRJ 478 internship seminar in addition to spending a minimum of 80 hours in a field placement. Currently employed sworn federal, state, and local officers or agents may waive, through petition, the internship field placement. Students may apply for an internship by visiting the Criminal Justice Studies Office in ASC-104.
