MEETING OF MINDS XVII
at
THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN-DEARBORN
MAY 15, 2009
The Meeting of Minds Conference provides undergraduate students and
faculty at UM-Dearborn, UM-Flint and Oakland University the opportunity
to come together to present and discuss their research.
Why would I want to participate in Meeting of Minds XVII?
- To learn what other students are doing in a research field of interest
to you.
- To find out how to get involved in undergraduate research.
- To better understand how research is undertaken so you can improve
your research experiments or papers in your undergraduate and graduate
courses.
- To learn more about a field that is new to you.
- To gain valuable experience in making a formal presentation of your
research in a supportive academic environment.
- To discover what kind of student research is taking place at other
campuses.
- To extend your learning beyond the confines of the formal classroom.
How can I participate?
- There are two levels of participation:
- You can submit a proposal to make either an oral presentation
or a poster presentation of a research project. You need to
identify a faculty member who is willing to work with you to
supervise your project. For example, perhaps you want to present
a research paper or project you produced for a class last semester. To
do so, fill out the presentation proposal form and registration
form including a brief abstract (summary) of the project. Registration and presentation proposal forms will be available on-line beginning in January 2009 at:
