invites you to the three remaining films in the 2012-13 Series
featuring documentary films on artists and other major contributors to African Diasporan life and cultural legacy.
All films will be screened at the
University of Michigan Detroit Center

Friday, February 8: "Amandla: Revolution in Four-Part Harmony"
Hugh Masekela and other famous South African musicians, along with movement activists, reflect upon the role of music in the South African struggle to overthrow apartheid.
Friday, March 15 : "Raise Your Voice"
Members of Sweet Honey in the Rock, the extraordinary a cappella ensemble, perform songs from their repertory and examine the history of their human rights commitment and remarkable rise to world-wide recognition.
Friday, April 19: "Colored Frames"
A visual art documentary, this film "looks back at the last fifty years of African American art, exploring the experiences, inspirations, and influences of African American artists."
The 2012-2013 Sankofa Film Series is a collaborative effort between U-M Dearborn’s African American Studies Program and the U-M Detroit Center.
