Writing Center helps 40 percent more students over previous year!

During 2008-2009 student traffic in the Writing Center increased by more than forty percent over the previous academic year. The Writing Center, with three locations in 3035 CB,  1170 SSB and 138 FCN, employs undergraduate consultants from a wide range of majors, including Art History, Biology, Chemistry, Communications, Economics, Education, English literature, History, Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Philosophy, Sociology and Women and Gender Studies.  Professors Foy, Potvin and Willard-Traub oversee consultants’ ongoing education and training in relevant strategies and theories of tutoring of writing.  Students can make an appointment to work with a peer consultant by going online at http://www.casl.umd.umich.edu/writ_center.
