The Women’s Studies Program at UM-Dearborn was founded in 1976. It became the Women’s and Gender Studies Program in 2003 with the offering of a major. The Program’s diverse, interdisciplinary faculty hold appointments from across the University and include many of the campus’s finest teachers and scholars.
WGST is also one of the most prominent contributors to the intellectual life of the campus, and is active in creating partnerships and engagement opportunities in the Metropolitan community. WGST sponsors many speakers and events every year, and provides its students with opportunities for leadership and public service in Dearborn and Detroit.
