CASL Online

CASL Online proudly serves students who need more flexibility in arranging their courses or who may not be able to travel to campus. Courses are brought to you by the use of web-based technology, including a web-based classroom environment (CTools), web-based discussion forums, video or audio of faculty lectures linked with lecture slides and other multimedia material. All courses are taught by CASL faculty teaching within the same disciplines on campus.

Canvas LMS Migration and Training

UM-Dearborn has decided to adopt Canvas as the single learning management system (LMS) for the entire campus. We are now moving into the transition period.  The CASL transition will start in the mid-summer, and early adopters should be able to use Canvas for their instructional activities as early as fall 2013 semester.

We plan to complete the transition period at the end of winter 2014 term. Starting summer 2014, we should all be using Canvas as our LMS, replacing CTools. CTools will be available during the transition year.

It’s also important to highlight that we are planning on using Canvas mainly for instructional activities. Other collaborative tools such as M+Box and M+Google Apps will be utilized for administrative tasks, promotion and tenure and project sites.

As the first step of the Canvas transition, a designated team of faculty and staff will be hosting “Canvas Days” which will include hands-on concurrent workshops and open lab support so that you can learn about Canvas LMS as well as migrating/creating your course content. These training sessions are open to staff as well and include Google+ and M+Box.
