Faculty Searches in Arab American Studies

 

CAAS is pleased to announce the hiring of two outstanding new faculty.  Hani Bawardi will begin his tenure-track appointment  in History in Fall 2008 and Sally Howell will begin her tenure-track appointment in History in Fall 2009. Hani has been working with CAAS for two years as a research associate and lecturer in History. He will be completing his dissertation entitled, "Arab  Immigrant Political Organizations from 1915 to 1951: Transnationalism as a Marker of Arab-American Identity Development" at Wayne State University. Sally Howell served as the Cultural Arts Director for ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services) in Dearborn from 1987-1995 and will be completing her dissertation entitled, "Global Islam/Local Muslims: Inventing the American Mosque in Detroit" at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
