- Assist in selection of college major and required courses.
- Provide assistance with long-range goals.
- Offer career guidance and counsel.
Admissions
The criteria for admissions consideration must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Minimum recalculated GPA in either high school or college course work of 2.4 or a GED score of 49.4
- Written referral/ recommendation from the social service agency
- UM-D placement exams (composition/mathematics)
Tuition and Fees
- Tuition is assessed at a special program rate for 12 consecutive months. Minimum of 7 credit hours may be elected per term
- After 12 consecutive months, students will be assessed at regular tuition rate
- Books are purchased by the program for 12 consecutive months
- FAFSA (Financial Aid Form) must be complete in order to determine financial eligibility
Educational Support
- Facilitate a supportive peer group of students who will meet at regular time intervals throughout the academic year
- Assign mentor to every student. Encourage and monitor regular contact between students and mentors
- Assist with finding educational and economic resources necessary
- Attend workshops and study groups
- Meet with CASL advising staff each semester
