Honors Degree in Biochemistry
To qualify for this honor, a student must maintain an overall grade point average of 3.5. The honors degree candidate must take 6 credit hours of independent study under Biochemistry 495, 498 or 499 culminating in an oral presentation and an undergraduate thesis. The Biochemistry Program Committee will evaluate the student’s oral presentation and thesis.

There are no cognate requirements for the concentration in Biochemistry. Minor Option for Biochemistry Concentrators A student concentrating in Biochemistry may declare a minor in another discipline by taking 12 credit hours of upper division courses in that discipline.

Minor or An Area of Focus For Other Majors
A minor or an area of focus consists of 12 hours of upper division credit in biochemistry.
CASL Distribution and Graduation Requirements
The CASL distribution requirements may be obtained through the CASL Office of Advising and Student Records. Courses used to satisfy distribution requirements may not be used to satisfy concentration requirements. Upon reaching 85 credit hours a CASL student should automatically receive a senior audit from the CASL Office of Advising and Student Records. Once the audit has been received the student should meet with his/her faculty advisor to review the audit.
